Doctor Who Strikes Midnight As Twelfth Doctor Is Introduced

Eleven doctors have come and gone, but now, after fifty years of the show airing,  Doctor Who presents its twelfth doctor, Scottish actor Peter Capaldi.

His first episode, ‘Deep Breath’, appeared on Aug. 23. Featuring the first doctor who speaks with a Scottish accent, (Tennant, the tenth doctor, was Scottish but spoke in a British accent) Capaldi made an entrance by trapping his Time And Relative Dimension In Space (TARDIS) in the throat of a dinosaur with his companion, Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman). During the episode, the twelfth doctor had lost his memory of who his friends were, and it was hard for him to cope with the fact that he could not remember anything. He has to try to find a way to save the T-Rex roaming Victorian London.

He first appeared when the TARDIS landed in the mud. Strax (Dan Starkey), an alien who is a friend of the Doctor, banged on the doors of the TARDIS, and Capaldi showed up, telling the battle defensive alien to “shush!”. Though the episode was a bit cheesy, it was good overall. I believe that Capaldi will be one of the best doctors the show has ever seen.

Madeline Goser (12) loved the new Doctor Who and Capaldi’s performance.

“I thought it was a great start to the season,” Goser said. “I think he’s going to be fantastic. He’s very different from Matt Smith. “

I hope to see more of Capaldi’s performance in the next episode, ‘Into the Dalek’, which premieres on August 31.
