The OHS Leadership classes just wrapped up a fundraiser that has been in the works for many months, the Mr. OHS pageant.

The Mr. OHS pageant is an annual, non-profit fundraiser that took place on Friday, April 29. Senior boys represent their school activities while raising money for a great cause. This year Mr. OHS raised over $3,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand, an organization that researches childhood cancer.

The night started with the 28 contestants being introduced while wearing outfits that represented their clubs, followed by the contestants entertaining the audience with the talent portion of the competition. Afterward, the judges voted on the top 15 who then moved on to the question round.

The judges listened and scored the answers of the top 15, narrowing it down to the top 5: Matt Helldoerfer, Blake Gentry, Raul Elguezabal, Brad Sovich, and Iain Bennett.

Mr. Tigers Fight Back is awarded to the contestant who raised the most money throughout the week, and this year it went to Brad Sovich (Mr. Soccer). Matt Miller (Mr. Quizbowl) received the most votes from the audience and was crowned Mr. Popularity. Matt Helldoerfer (Mr. Football) was crowned the coveted Mr. OHS title at the end of the night.

“It felt good to win but it didn’t really matter, I was just there to have fun with my friends,” said Mr. OHS Matt Helldoerfer.
