The OHS varsity baseball team defeated Lindbergh on May 5.

The first and second innings remained scoreless, but in the third inning pitcher Bailey Vuylsteke (12) hit a deep infield fly ball, sending Matt Miller (12) home for the first run of the game.

The game stayed 1-0 until the seventh inning when Vuylsteke hit a pop fly to center field, once again pushing Miller from third base to home plate.

“It was a team effort. It was a really good defensive game. Defense effort all around. We faced a really good pitcher and we were able to get in his head and work him out of the game,” said Vuylsteke.

The team controlled and managed to win the game with a final score of 2-0. Vuylsteke led the team with two RBIs and pitched a complete game shutout.

“It felt really nice to beat our biggest rival on their field,” said Vuylsteke.

The team now has a record of 17-6 and on Thursday, May 5, the OHS varsity baseball team will take on Festus High School at the GCS Ballpark at 4:15 pm.
