Tennis has good season under first year head coach

Carly Lansfersieck (12) returns a serve in a match earlier this season.

OHS girls tennis finished off the season with a .500 record of 8-8 overall with a few big wins by seniors Carly Lanfersieck and Abby Bergman and also sophomore Kate Giles.

Behind all of these wins is OHS social studies teacher Mr. Ebert. Ebert not only led many of his girls to victory but he also has coached tennis for 18 years prior to being a coach at OHS. Luckily he had a great group of girls to work with to make his first season coaching at OHS memorable.

“Their work ethic was awesome and their cooperation was tremendous”, said Ebert, which is exactly why this years tennis season for the girls was a success.

With doubles partners Abby Bergman and Carly Lanfersieck being key players for the tennis team and Kate Giles being another key player as well , all 3 girls placed in districts this year, 1st in doubles and 2nd in singles.

Ebert and his team had many highlights this season, which included the girls placing 4th overall in districts and also the opening of the new tennis courts.

This year has been a success for Oakville tennis and with the new coach being a big part of it, the girls managed to make the 2013 fall season great.
