OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES
Julie Bowen – “Modern Family”
Jane Lynch – “Glee” or Kristen Wiig “Saturday Night Live”
The nominees this year were all extremely strong and deserved the award. “Modern Family” is, without a doubt, a hysterical show. However, I cannot lie and say I am shocked that Bowen is the one taking the Emmy home. Lynch and Wiig constantly deliver and are fan favorites. Regardless, critics choose the winners and critics love “Modern Family.”
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES
Ty Burrell – “Modern Family”
Any actor from “Modern Family”
The nominees in this category were fairly slim pickings with only two that were not from “Modern Family.” Although I love “Glee,” Chris Colfer and Kurt, I don’t see how this show is thrown into the comedy category. Jon Cryer’s performances in “Two and a Half Men” have been average and, in my opinion, not worthy of an award. It makes complete sense to me that an actor from “Modern Family” is the one to take the award home. All of the men on this show are extremely strong actors, but I have to admit that Jesse Tyler Ferguson has a special place in my heart, so I am a little disappointed that Burrell nabbed the award instead of him. Despite this, the critics made the difficult, but correct, choice.
OUTSTANDING DIRECTING FOR A COMEDY SERIES
Michael Spiller – “Modern Family”
OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A COMEDY SERIES
Steve Levitan and Jeffery Richman – “Modern Family”
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES
Jim Parsons – “The Big Bang Theory”
Jim Parsons – “The Big Bang Theory”
As an avid “Big Bang Theory” fan, I am more than thrilled that Parsons picked up this award for the second year in a row. He is more than incredible as Sheldon and continues to amaze me week after week.
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES
Melissa McCarthy – “Mike and Molly”
Martha Plimpton – “Raising Hope”
Since her “Gilmore Girls” days, I have always adored Melissa McCarthy. However, when I watched “Mike and Molly,” I was fairly disappointed. I was pulling for the incredible Martha Plimpton, who kills it every week as Virginia Chance. Regardless, it is more than refreshing to see a fresh face win, especially one who is as funny as McCarthy.
OUTSTANDING REALITY COMPETITION PROGRAM
“The Amazing Race”
“So You Think You Can Dance?”
My bias is going to show on this one. I think that “The Amazing Race” is an incredible show and quite the challenge. However, “So You Think You Can Dance?” never ceases to amaze me. It showcases amazing talent and brings attention to something that goes highly under appreciated these days: dance.
OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A MUSIC, COMEDY OR VARIETY SERIES
“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”
OUTSTANDING DIRECTING FOR A MUSIC, COMEDY OR VARIETY SERIES
Don Roy King – “Saturday Night Live”
OUTSTANDING MUSIC, COMEDY OR VARIETY SERIES
“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”
OUTSTANDING WRITING IN A DRAMA SERIES
Jason Katim – “Friday Night Lights”
All I have to say is it is about time and “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.”
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES
Margo Martindale – “Justified”
Christine Baranski or Archie Panjabi – “The Good Wife”
The stunning women of “The Good Wife” are an extremely powerful cast. They command and own the scenes when on the screen. I can honestly say I am surprised that neither of these women took the trophy home with them.
OUTSTANDING DIRECTING FOR A DRAMA SERIES
Martin Scorsese – “Boardwalk Empire”
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
Peter Dinklage – “Game of Thrones”
Alan Cumming – “The Good Wife”
From what I have heard “Game of Thrones” is a stunning program. However, I love “The Good Wife” and Alan Cumming is absolutely incredible every week on the show.
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES
Julianne Marguiles – “The Good Wife”
Connie Britton – “Friday Night Lights”
Yes, I have been raving about how wonderful “The Good Wife” is. However, “Friday Night Lights” is a quality television show that is getting the attention of everyone now that it is too late. Connie Britton was completely stellar as Tammy Taylor for five years and portrayed an extremely strong woman, flawlessly. Needless to say, Britton was robbed.
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES
Kyle Chandler – “Friday Night Lights”
Kyle Chandler – “Friday Night Lights”
Although, in my opinion, the Academy was wrong about Outstanding Lead Actress, they at least got Outstanding Lead Actor correct. Kyle Chandler was absolutely phenomenal as Coach Eric Taylor. After five incredible seasons, I am completely overjoyed that Chandler is able to take home this well-deserved award.

“Mad Men”

“Friday Night Lights” was robbed. End of story. Five years of incredible stories and characters with little to no recognition.
OUTSTANDING COMEDY SERIES
“Modern Family”
“The Big Bang Theory”
I love “The Big Bang Theory” with all of my heart. It is a comedy about something different. However, I understand the appeal and humor of “Modern Family.” It is a quality show that pokes at every day life while bringing in new issues. So, once again, “Modern Family,” I applaud you.
