Coach Mike Bishop has extremely high expectations for the boys cross country team this upcoming season due to the immense amount of experience returning and the two valuable additions to team.
Two year state qualifier Jake Bast (11) had a fantastic season last year, placing 18th in state. Also, Ervin and Elvir Sarajlic (9) have had plenty of experience winning as they won first and second place all three years in the annual cross country meet at Oakville Middle School.
The twins are the new phenom for the team. In the first race of the season, Bast placed first while Elvir placed second and Ervin third.
When asked whose better, Elvir replied, “Some days he is better, and some days I am better.”
Other big impacts to the team are the four boys who qualified for state two years ago. Brad Morlock (11), Nick Creahan (12), Lucas Beckman (12) and Bryan Whaley (11) have high hopes to return to state this season.
“Our team this year has fair numbers and more quality depth than in the past,” Coach Bishop said. This translates to a more promising season than in the past.
With all of the talented athletes, the boys cross country team is ready to work towards the high goals that they have set.
