Students on a mission
Several OHS students take an annual trip to Peru
For four years in a row, several OHS students have been packing up and moving south for the winter–to Peru, actually, where they spend several weeks in January visiting poor towns and villages and helping provide clean water to the people there.
David Chopin (11) has been making this journey for several years now (since grade seven) with his church, Good Shepherd Presbyterian; in the past, he’s gone with cousin Nick Keller (12), but as Keller was unable to attend this year. David’s sister, Audrey Chopin (9), thought it was a chance for her to see what it was all about. In the past, Chopin has called the experience eye-opening and a good chance to connect with the people in other countries.
“It was a rewarding experience,” said David Chopin about this year. “Glad I went.”
The siblings plan on continuing on these trips for as long as they can.
