Band performs first concert of the season
On Monday, Feb. 8, the OHS band “wowed” the audience with their first concert of 2016.
OHS band members played three pieces: “Chorale and Shaker Dance,” “Themes from Green Bushes,” and “Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.” The band had been practicing these pieces since November, when marching season ended. The concert was held at Oakville High School at 7 p.m. in Gym A.
According to clarinet player and OHS band member Abby Menkhus (12), “This was a good time for the parents to see us perform.”
The main purpose of this concert was for the band to run through their music and prepare for the State Festival, which will be held March 1 at Lindbergh High School. The band is hoping to receive a “superior” rating, which is the best rating on a scale from one to five, one being “superior” and five being “poor.”
