Every year, the FACS department decides to give back.

One of the Sewing Fundamentals class first project was to make portacath pillows that are donated to cancer patients. The pillow is attached to a seatbelt to prevent the patients portacath from being irritated.

The class made and delivered 46 pillows to the Siteman Cancer Center on Oct. 25.

Sewing teacher Jamie Daughaday receives positive feedback regarding the demand of the pillows.

“I have been told in the past that the pillows are usually gone in a matter of days,” said Daughaday.

Any pillows finished after the delivery date will be delivered with next semester’s class.
