Blood was flowing throughout OHS all day on March 1; the annual blood drive was held in Gym B by StuCo on that Tuesday.
StuCo held a Blood Drive to replenish the low blood supplies we have in St. Louis. This year OHS came up with 203 sign ups and 169 units of donated blood. With these numbers OHS broke its goal of 138 units, which means StuCo will receive a check for $250 and any additional units over the set goal earns an extra $1. StuCo uses this money to help send a StuCo member to the Fulton Leadership Camp in the summer.
All blood collected will go to Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Supply for all SSM hospitals in St. Louis so all blood donations stay local.
“This year [the Blood Drive] went a lot more smoother than last year, there was no discipline problems, smooth transition, it went really well,” OHS English teacher Laura Zwilling commented.
