The Fall Blood Drive that will be taking place on Oct. 17 has already fired up the OHS students. There’s a ton of participation coming from everyone this year. Over 140 people have already claimed their spots to give blood. There’s still 70 slots left to be filled and they’re going quickly.
“We have lots of participation from our students this year and a ton from our wonderful teaching staff,” Student Council Sponsor Ms. Laura Zwilling said.
All the blood goes to Mississippi Valley Regional Center. It then gets spread out to SMS hospitals throughout Missouri.
This is the first fall blood drive to ever come to OHS and the students are putting forth their full effort. They’re very enthusiastic about what’s happening and are happy to help out with whatever they can. Although only STUCO members can volunteer to run the blood drive, anyone over the age of 16 can donate blood with parents consent. There will still be a spring blood drive on Feb. 28th, so if you do miss your chance the spring blood drive is your next opportunity.
