As the days of summer abruptly came to a close, new school supplies were bought, schedules were doled out, and final school year preparations were finalized. When the 2012-2013 Mehlville School District calendar was released, parents and students in the district may have noticed the return of early dismissals.
According to OHS principal Jan Kellerman, early dismissal days are very valuable and vital ways to plan and work together as a district.
“[Early dismissals] provide time to collaborate between buildings and for [OHS faculty] to work inside our professional learning community,” Kellerman said.
On the days students leave early, our faculty will be discussing strategies, developing plans for improvement and working on ways of improving curriculum.
Early dismissals for the 2012-2013 school year will be Sept. 18, Oct. 18, Nov. 15, Dec. 11, Jan. 16, Feb. 7, and May 1.
