Academic Quiz Bowl hosts tournament
22 students. 11 schools. One winning team.
The Academic Quiz Bowl team hosted a tournament at OHS on March 28 for the second year in a row.
There were 11 schools involved with the event. Each school had two teams of two students. At the end of the tournament, Orchard Farms took first place.
“It was a good turnout; Lots of people (showed up).” said quiz bowl member Maddie Behr (9).
Out of all the academic quiz bowl teams in the area, OHS is one of the few teams that hosts a tournament. According to Academic Quiz Bowl Coach of the Year award winner Christina Whelehon, the event went went “relatively well.”
“It was stressful, but rewarding,” said Whelehon.
The Quiz Bowl team will be competing in a tournament in Ladue on April 11. However, the team will only send one member to the competition: Iain Bennett (11).
“I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be a lot of fun.” said Bennett.
The team then will then go on to compete in districts, where they have won the title four years in a row.
“We are pretty confident we’ll win districts, but we’ll see what happens.” said quiz bowl member Dominic Indelicato (12).
