The varsity girls tennis is young team with eight new players and only two returning, but they’re showing promises to a winning season.
With their top two singles players, Kristina Lupo (12) and Niki Hudacek (11), and the top doubles team, Blair Lamatina (12) and Jenna Lamantina (12), the team is looking to be very successful. So far, they have only lost to Lutheran South.
The two returning varsity members and number two doubles team, Xi Wang (12) and Sam Nguyen (12), have made the team even stronger and have high hopes for the new members.
“Its good to have a lot of new talent this year,” Nguyen said.
Coach Gebauer is proud of her young team and is helping all of them to do their very best.
“Our goals for this season are to improve as much as possible with eight new varsity players and to just play our best every match,” Gebauer said.
Erika Hagemann (12), one of the eight new varsity members, has already seen herself improve, hitting the ball harder and being more consistent in doing so.
“You improve a little bit every time you play,” Hagemann said.
