The girls golf team is facing a roadblock this season.
Last season, seniors Maura Miller and Katie Nassif met with success in districts and then moved right onto state tournaments. This year, girls will have to go to districts, then sectionals, before moving state.
Coach Cindy Maulin would like to have at least six returning players to reach state after losing her two state qualifiers, Miller and Nassif. For this season, Maulin says “we will take it one match at a time.”
The team has started off the season fairly well with two wins and one loss so far.
Some key returning seniors this year are Lauren Buschhorn (12), Laura Brunette (12) and Morgan Wahl (12).
With half the team made up of seniors and the other half sophomores, only time will show how this team turns out and if this obstacle will hold any of the girls from reaching State.
