There is no questioning how close the OHS softball team has become this year. Whether it is speaking Spanish to one another, crazy dance parties on the bus or teaching each other secret hand shakes they love being together and always have fun doing it.

“I have amazing teammates that keep things interesting on and off the field. We’re all just having fun doing what we love: playing softball,” Danielle Farnam (12) said.

According to Julie Kernan (12), the loss of players that graduated last year will not keep them from having a successful season. Some of the players who do not usually get much playing time definitely stepped into the spotlight after the big Rockwood Summit Tournament win.

“We were behind at the beginning and caught up with some great hits,” Kernan said.

Along with the cheers and motivating shouts from the dugout comes a fun team bonding accessory. Last year, Farnam got her teammates bracelets that said BELIEVE on them for encouragement. This year, Farnam got the girls different colored bracelets with DREAM made on them to help elevate the team’s spirit level.

“This year we have to keep our DREAM alive and that is to make it back to State,” Farnam said.
