Ranked number one going into Districts, the girls tennis team has “strong, hardworking players” according to tennis coach Linda Gebauer.
The team is having an impressive season this year with a record of 8-5 which is twice as well as last season.
Gebauer says that this years team is more competitive.
“They keep improving,” Gebauer said.
As the team heads into Districts this week, Gebauer hopes that her team can live up to the number one ranking that they’ve been given.
The players to watch are number four singles player, Theresa Ziegler (12), with a record of 11-3 and Twins Blair and Jenna Lamatina (12) who are the team’s number one doubles pair with a record of 10-4 going into Districts.
Both girls agree that this years team is “a lot better than last years.”
“With districts coming up, I’m really hoping we [the team] dominate,” Jenna says.
Both of them hope that they can succeed at Districts.
“I really want to go onto to sectionals,” Blair said.
The girls believe that they have good chemistry with one another. They know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
With Districts right around the corner, the team hopes to live up to their expectations.
