OHS boys basketball finished 3-1 in the Collinsville Tournament on Dec. 28-30. They lost their first game but bounced back strong to win the consolation championship.
In the first round of the tourney, the Tigers lost to Plainfield South, 53-50. OHS then moved on to the consolation quarterfinals, where they beat Riverview Gardens, 56-41. Forward Dan Zehner (12) scored 19 points while center Austin Gillmann (9) scored 15, along with five blocks.
The Tigers then went on to play Decatur MacArthur in the consolation semi-finals. Guard Javier Duren (12) led the team to a 59-51 victory, scoring 23 points.
OHS advanced to the consolation championship,where they beat Chatham Glenwood, 44-38. Duren scored 16 points while Zehner scored 12.
“It was a bounce back from the first game of the tournament,” guard Andrew Bick (11) said. “We played more as a team.”
Their play in the Collinsville Tournament improved the Tiger’s record to 5-5. OHS is now 6-5 after a 46-34 defeat of Lafayette on Jan. 4.
