The boys baseball team started off strong with a record of 5-1 as of April 1.
“I’m happy with with how were playing but I know we will get better as the season goes on,” Coach Rich Sturm said.
The seasons success continued with a 1-0 win over Seckman on March. 31. Chad Gendron (12) pitched a complete game shut out with five strikeouts. Even with the recent success in pitching, Sturm still sees a need for improvement.
“We need to be able to get ahead in the count and not give up as many walks,” Sturm said.
Offense has been the highlight of this season with the team averaging nearly nine runs a game. This average includes the Tiger’s only loss to the Vianney Griffens, in which the Griffens pitched a shut out. In six games the Tigers have scored 47 runs.
With returning seniors like Dalton Bray who’s batting average is .400 as of April 5, we’ll see if the success at the beginning will continue and get the Tigers back to another final four.
