Cross country runner Melissa Brown (10) is advancing to sectionals after placing first in individual districts.
Missouri class 4 girls districts cross country meet was held in Jackson City, MO on Oct. 22. Brown placed first with a time of 19 minutes, 14.79 seconds, advancing to the sectional meet at Parkway Central on Oct. 30. She also has the second best time in the area with 18:30.60, which she recorded on Sept. 10 at Forest Park.
“She returned this season angry, determined, and hungry for success, with one goal in mind, returning to cross country state and going to track state,” coach Mike Bishop said. Bishop also commented that Brown is motivated after placing fifth at sectionals and not qualifying for state last year.
The Tigers finished seventh in the district tournament as a team, also advancing to sectionals.
