Girls Basketball looks for improvment
Oakville High School girls basketball team’s season kicked off last week and Coach Aaron Bosch is looking ahead with as much positivity as possible.
The girls had a Jamboree last Friday night where they lost all three of their games. However, Bosch describes it as a successful night overall.
“It was a good idea for the girls to play against other teams in games that don’t really matter,” Bosch said.
The team consists of four sophomores, one junior, and three seniors, meaning half of the team is new to the varsity experience. With the inexperience and lack of some key returning players, Bosch believes the team will struggle to put up points. It will be necessary for key defensive players Alyssa Norberg (11), Taylor Ventimiglia (12), and Favor Oparaji (10) to step up.
“We are really young, and we are going to struggle a lot early on,” Bosch said, “but we will learn from our mistakes and our team is already working well defensively this year compared to others.”
In just a couple of short weeks, the girls will play their first official game against Mehlville on December 12th.
