Putting them down, Tigers cruise in season opener
With four minutes left in the fourth quarter the clock operator looked up at the scoreboard and saw the 30 point lead. It was time for the continuous clock, fortunately for the Tigers it was because they were on the positive side of the score.
That is just how the night went for the boys varsity basketball team as they took on the Rockwood Summit Falcons last night (Dec. 10) in their season opener. The Tigers came out quick and firing and never looked back.
It was a total team effort for the Tigers, with everyone that dressed touching the court. The Tigers came out of the gates confident and ready scoring the first six points of the game and taking a 16-6 halftime score heading into the second quarter. Each team scored the same amount of points in the second quarter leaving the halftime score 32-12.
The big names showed why they are considered the key parts to the team. Austin Gillmann (12) had a strong performance, dominating the shorter Summit team scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds . Ervin Sarajlic (12) also had a strong game with 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
The Tigers continued to pull away in the second half going up by 30 at one point. The final score was 63-42.
The Tigers next game is Friday night (Dec. 13) against Holt at OHS. It will be the boys home opener, the game tips at 7pm.
