Tigers take successful trip to Columbia
OHS wrestling had success last weekend (Dec. 13 and 14) at a meet in Columbia.
Even though the team went 2-3, many of the wrestlers had a great weekend. Adam Roland (12) and Michael Dickens (12) both went 2-3. Dominic O’Neil (12), Matt Ream (12), Bryce Davis (12), and Connor Hardesty (11) were all 4-1.
But the biggest standout was once again Austin Neal (10) who was undefeated at 5-0.
One of his wins included an upset against the 3rd place medalist from the 2013 state tournament.
“I feel good about my performance and i’m proud about my upset,” said Neal. “If I focus on the fundamentals i should keep winning and have a good season.”
The two team wins came against Kirkwood and Helias. Despite a losing record, the coaches are still hopeful for the rest of the season.
“We did pretty good this weekend,” said coach Tom Mcfarland. “As long as we work hard and keep improving it should be a good season.”
The Tigers will travel to Mascoutah, Illinois on Dec. 20 and 21 for another tournament.
