Volleyball hosts Gateway Matchup Tournament
This past weekend, the girls volleyball team hosted the Gateway Matchup Tournament here at OHS for the 6th year in a row.
While varsity was busy playing, JV and freshmen players helped to run the concession stand, keep scores, and line judge. The tournament started on Sept. 16 and ended on Sept. 19. The girls started out strong with a win against Parkway South in two games on Sept. 16.
“We came in strong on Wednesday; our intensity was high and we were playing well as a team,” said right side hitter Meredith Boone (12).
Unfortunately, the team lost the rest of its games in the tournament, but they managed to keep their heads high.
“Saturday was a little more challenging but we still improved as a team,” said Boone.
Villa Duchesne ended up winning all around out of 18 teams, and Lindbergh won the consolation bracket.
“I think a tournament of this size and competition is needed in the area, and I was happy to be a part of it,” said coach Ms. Jessica Betz.
