Cross country runner heads to state
Cross country runner Griffin Bailey (12) has his eye on a top ten finish when he heads to state on Nov. 7.
According to Bailey, his average time for a 5K meet was solid throughout the regular season.
“I think my average time had me at 11th in the state,” Bailey said, “but I wasn’t running as fast as I wanted to be running.”
Bailey had a successful postseason as well. He placed second at districts in Jackson on October 24 to advance to sectionals. Bailey placed 9th at sectionals in Festus on Oct 31 which advanced him to the state tournament.
“I want to be top 10 at state. I think I’m right there so I think I could,” Bailey said. “I could finish anywhere between 10th and 30th place depending on how the day goes.”
State will be in Jefferson City on Nov 7. Bailey’s start time is at 1:10 pm.
