Boys basketball falls short against SLUH
Team struggles with loss of height as they open the season
After losing six of their top scoring players, the varsity boys basketball team struggled in their first game of the season.
On Dec. 11 the young team fell to SLUH with a score of 38-71. Senior Antwan Banks led the OHS team by scoring 11 points. The boys fought to put up points the first half, scoring a total of nine points, but SLUH scored a whopping 42.
After losing seven seniors and six of their top players from last season, the boys have suffered from a loss of height. Veteran players had limited playing time last season, and will have to fill more important roles this year despite their inexperience. These factors seem to have taken a toll on the young team.
Despite the current struggle, top returning senior Josh Kuntze remains optimistic.
“I think this was just a little bump in the road,” said Kuntze. “Hopefully we can remain positive and look forward to a progressive season.
The varsity boys look to take on Fox on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 7 pm.
