Girls swim starts the season with a win
Girls varsity swim kicked off their season this week with their home meet against Webster.
The girls meet was on Dec. 8 at MHS. OHS won at the meet by a two point lead from the help of senior diver, Lindsey Eplin, starting off the season with a bang.
A typical swim meet includes relays, diving, 50, 100, 200, 400 or 500 meters of backstroke, front stroke or butterfly. When an individual or group wins an event, points are then given to the team as a whole.
“It seems like the team will be a lot better than last year,” said swimmer Ally Landmann (12). “We have a lot of sophomores on varsity to give the team diversity and we have one really good diver this year.”
The next home meet in the MHS pool is on Jan. 8 against Rockwood High School at 4:30.
