Varsity baseball wins game for senior night
OHS varsity baseball had a successful senior night against Northwest.
On April 28, the OHS baseball field was decorated with posters, balloons, and pictures to celebrate the final season of 11 players. Those seniors were Tyler Chambliss, Raul Elguezabal, Bailey Vuylsteke, Matt Miller, Blake Tribout, Josh Kuntze, Ryan Merritt, Jason Allen, Tyler Morris, Kyle Spellicy, and Blake Dillow.
“It was crazy to think about, I’ve always been watching senior night and now I was a part of it,” Ryan Merritt (12) said.
Before the game, these seniors walked the baseline with and met their parents at the home plate. Their academic and athletic achievements were announced and they all gathered to take pictures before taking to the field for the game.
The Tigers had a victory of 1-0. Dylan Mooney (10) scored and Merritt hit the RBI. Blake Dillow (12) pitched a shutout.
“I thought senior night went great. The weather was great. Everyone seemed to have a good time, parents were happy, players were happy, and we won,” Coach Rich Sturm said.
The Tigers improved their overall record to 16-6.
