Golden Girls dance to victory
The Golden Girls started the year off with success as they finished first in poms and jazz at their first competition at Lindbergh High School on Dec. 3.
Teams from schools all around the St. Louis area competed in the competition. They were divided into different categories based on the size of the squad, according to Carolyn Grayson (10).
In the jazz category, the Golden Girls competed against Duchesne, Incarnate Word, and Windsor, and in the pom category, they competed against Incarnate Word, McCluer North, Windsor, John F. Kennedy Catholic High School, Duchesne, and St. Pius X.
“I feel very proud of my team,” Grayson said, “I know that we all danced our hardest and we really worked well with each other on and off the stage.”
From football games to competition, the dancers feel that they’ve been doing well this year despite their young age and small size according to Amanda Nichting (12).
“We are still working really hard because it only gets harder from here,” Nichting said, “but we do what we got to do … I am confident that we will do very well the rest of the season.”
