Noblitt, Nava medal at conference tournament
Colby Noblitt (10) finished third in the Suburban Conference Yellow Pool Golf Tournament on May 5. The only two golfers who placed ahead of Noblitt were both four-year senior players.
Noblitt ended the day with 74 strokes and only four over par. “This was the best match I played all year,” said Noblitt. “A couple seniors beat me, but they were solid.”
This is the second time he has earned a medal as a high school golfer. The first came earlier in the season at the Seckman Tournament.
Noblitt was not the only OHS golfer to medal at the conference tournament. Nick Nava (11) tied for tenth with 13 over par. There were five golfers who tied for tenth.
“I don’t play every day in the off season,” said Noblitt, referring to his basketball season and training that has to be done for that. “At the end of the year I usually play pretty well.”
The next round of districts are Monday May 10, at Forest Park. If he qualifies again, he will play in Joplin the following Monday, May 17, in the state tournament.
