Boys tennis believes that they have had a successful this year with their wins even though a few matches have been canceled due to rain.

Recently they have had as many as three matches a week. In all, the tennis team is supposed to partake in 16 matches including districts May 7-12. All of the varsity players get to play in districts. Winning in singles means you’ll move up to teams, and winning in teams means moving up to doubles.

“This season is going pretty well so far,” Kolton Kreisz (9) said. “We started off a little slow because people didn’t know each other and didn’t play well with each other, but that fixed itself.”

If the team makes it to state, the season could end in the last week of school, but if not, it will end after districts. So far in the season, the boys have had five wins and five losses, and they feel they have room for improvement.

“I’m proud of being on varsity and winning. It is fun to play,” Brenden Pauls (12) said. “We should do something to prepare for the preseason and maybe start practices a little earlier. I think the whole team just needs more consistency throughout the off season and preseason.”

With only 10 athletes on the team, there is more of a close-knit relationship between the boys as well.

“We kind of just bond through practice and the bus rides on away games,” Pauls said, “and just hanging out and being around each other.”
