OHS band came home with yet another victory from the Farmington Marching Invitational, Sept. 17.
The bands compete within one of five divisions, based on their school size. OHS brought home first in its division as well as the best visual, best music, and best color guard caption awards. The highest overall score of all the bands in the competition was also rewarded to OHS.
“It felt good to know that we started off in the right direction,” section leader Nicole Bunse (11) said.
The writer of the music portion of this year’s show, Steve Vento, recently worked with the band. Mr. Theron Perkowski, assistant band director, said that they “pushed the kids really hard,” the weekend that Mr. Vento was visiting. The band took advantage of getting opinions from the direct source.
Despite their positive start, OHS fell one spot short of the cut in the Bands of America regionals in Richmond, KY on Sept. 23-25. The band experienced technical difficulties with their sound equipment before the performance.
