French club continues annual fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders
“Kindness is the light that dissolves all walls between souls, families, and nations.”
That quote said by P. Yogananda will be featured on the back of the T-shirts French Club and French National Honor Society are selling for their annual fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders.
Doctors Without Borders is an international nonprofit organization founded in France that provides quality medical care to those in need at no cost to the individual. The organization runs almost entirely off of donations.
“It’s a really good organization because they need it so much. There’s the American Red Cross, but this reaches further out, it’s not just for the United States…” French teacher Madame Keri Wilson said. “They’re very unbiased. It doesn’t matter what the people’s religion or political beliefs are or anything like that.”
The shirt features a design with skylines of several cities as one with “OHS Supports Doctors Without Borders” beneath. Two versions of the shirt will be sold; a coral short sleeve shirt for $15 and a blue long sleeve shirt for $20. The shirts will cost an additional $2 for sizes XXL and up.
“It shows how all the cities unite together because Doctors Without Borders unites nations because they don’t discriminate. They go to every nation,” president of French National Honor Society Rachel Lile (12) said.
The shirts are available to all students.
“We sell these shirts just to anyone in the school,” Lile said. “You don’t have to be in French club or French Honor Society or even in French (class).”
Members of the French clubs will be at lunches selling the shirts and accepting donations. The organizations will stop selling shirts on March 14. You can also pick up forms in Room 122 if interested.
“Nothing should really stop you from helping other people; if you’re able to you should be helping others,” designer of the shirt Chloe Wilke (10) said.
