OHS band seniors say farewell

As the school year is coming to a close seniors are preparing to say goodbye. The OHS band’s last concert of the year will be this Friday, May 10, at 6:30p.m in Gym A. It is the band’s annual senior farewell concert.

The Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, and Symphonic Band, will be performing. Also all the graduating seniors will get a chance to talk and share their favorite band memories. They will also receive a plaque for their time in band.

“It’s bittersweet. It’s weird to think that this is our last concert after four years in band,” Emily Reese (12), said.

The community has been donating money to aid OHS cafeteria worker Barb Fleming and her family. On Aug. 14, Fleming, her daughter, and her granddaughter were involved in a car crash that left Fleming and her granddaughter with severe injuries for the rest of their lives. "She's very overwhelmed with the fundraiser that the students have done for her, along with the fundraising that the community is doing for her,” cafeteria worker Lyn England said. “When we told her about it, she was crying. She's very thankful.”

Blake Hallsten’s (11) house was pranked on Sept. 20. “There was barbecue sauce, ketchup, syrup, lots of glitter, two pounds of dog food, beans, toilet paper and there was a lot of flour all over my front yard,” Hallsten said. While Hallsten’s house didn’t have severe damage, there were other houses that did.
