Bridgette Pagano (12) guides the Oakville Middle School 8th graders around their perspective high school.

The eighth grade student body from around the district has recently toured OHS. Bernard Middle toured on Jan. 28 and Oakville Middle students came on Feb. 3. In the past this has helped many students make their decision to attend or not to attend OHS.

Dalvin Parker (12), a leadership member who gave a tour, said, The students enjoyed their time here and being able to preview what next year holds in store for them. Many of them were sad about not being able to eat lunch here, but they are looking forward to high school”.

This year the OHS counseling office also set up a shadow day for eighth graders in private schools from around the area on November 1st. Roughly twenty eighth graders shadowed twenty leadership students. Experiencing almost a full day in the life of a high schooler. They arrived at 8 a.m. and left at 1:15.

Mrs. Gross, school counselor, said, “Having the private school kids shadow leadership students benefits them tremendously on helping them make their decisions for which high school to attend.”

Overall, the three preview days went very well for our house. Many eighth graders are now more more prepared and excited for high school thanks to this experience.
