Teachers Float With The Students

Teachers gather in their own float and wave to the crowd.

The annual homecoming parade at OHS has been a tradition many years, but having a float dedicated by teachers was new surprise.

A trio of OHS faculty members created quite the buzz announcing that there would teacher float in the parade. Counselor Mr. Steven King provided the idea and trailer for the float while industrial tech teacher Mr. Matthew Schraut and art teacher Mr. Tom Lutz helped build and design the float.

“Everyone at OHS pitched in to make the float,” Lutz said.

Besides the trio, the float featured key contribution from teachers and students. Lutz’s computer art studio students made the design for the teacher’s homecoming shirt while Ms. Susan Caton ordered the shirts and created a charisma and buzz around the float.

“If faculty and staff want to build a community, we need to be apart of it,” Caton said, “and there was an overwhelming response.”

The teachers hope that this is the start to an annual float in the OHS homecoming parade.
