OHS Team Gains Financial Success

The OHS financial football team went head to head against Lincoln College Preparatory Academy from Kansas City on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

This year, OHS came out on top by winning two of their three matches. The team consisted of nine players, all of whom have taken or are currently enrolled in a Personal Finance class. It was led by Cynthia Evans, a business teacher, who has coached a team in the competition for five years.

For many competitors, it was their first time. Armin Topalovic (10) competed in the event and really enjoyed it. He liked the idea that he could be learning while having fun.

Evans tries to get all her students involved in financial football by allowing them to play the game in class. It is a great way to get students involved and learning about personal finance. Evans also incorporates all her students and past students in the event.

“I try to get anyone involved who wants to be so even sophomores that are only half way through the semester are allowed to join the team,” Evans said.

Evans has a lot of fun in this competition every year and is proud of her team winning.
