Vuylsteke To Attend Leadership Conference

Cassidy Vuylsteke was chosen out of the sophomore class to attend a Hugh O’Brien Leadership Seminar July 5-7.

There were three candidates for this position, as voted on by the teachers. Vuylsteke had no idea she was one of them until one day she got a note in her interior design class.

She then went to the Guidance Office and was informed about the seminar and how she was one of the people that may be attending.

“I was really excited about the opportunity and happy because I knew my parents would be proud of me,” Vuylsteke said.

She sent in her community service and was chosen to represent OHS. Vincent Duong was chosen as her alternate and will be attending the seminar as well.

The seminar will be held at Southeast Missouri University, and student leaders from high schools all over the area will be present. There, they will work and learn different leadership skills.

“This was a really big accomplishment,” she said. “It made me even more excited for summer.”
