Purschke crowned Mr. OHS
Twenty-four senior boys representing OHS clubs and sports competed in the annual Mr. OHS Pageant on April 12, and Thomas Purschke was crowned this year’s Mr. OHS.
Purschke, who was Mr. Baseball, won his title by singing “Take on Me” during the talent portion and staying true to himself during his question rounds.
“It felt like I won a championship of my own,” said Purschke.
Dakota Nelleson, Mr. Drama Troupe, finished second, and Trent Baumen, Mr. Diabetic Corner, finished third. Mr. Popularity went to Brian Riordan, Mr. Golden Guy, and was voted on by the audience at the show. Elmedin Besic, Mr. Fishing, was crowned Mr. Aloha by collecting the most money to donate to the memorial fund in Honor of Mrs. Holly Foley. All contestants collected donations during lunches the week prior and the night of the show.
The talent portion of the pageant kept the audience entertained, with singing, dance numbers, dog tricks, and even shark-fishing. This was then followed by question rounds to determine the winner of Mr. OHS.
“I had a blast,” said Nelleson. “Even though I got second…I felt great about it.”
