Tigers impress at Hickman Invitational

OHS traveled to Columbia, MO on Jan. 24-25 to wrestle in the annual Hickman Invitational. And two OHS wrestlers stood out amongst the rest.

Both Adam Roland (12) and Austin Neal (10) placed second in their weight classes. This was Roland’s second second place finish this season. He was close to a first place victory until he broke his foot in the championship match of the heavyweight division. Roland improved his overall record to 24-7.

“I was unhappy with my performance. I didn’t get to win my last match of the day,” said Roland (12). “I’m hoping to be back for districts, and I am not going to let my foot get in the way of me going to state.”

Neal (10) improved his overall record to 27-4 in the 126-pound weight class. This was Neal’s fourth second place finish. He has finished second in every tournament so far this season.

“I need to come into my finals match better than I did,” Neal said. “I’m hoping I can place first or second at districts and then move on to place at state.”

The Tigers also had a fourth place finisher and four sixth place finishers at Hickman. OHS wrestles next on Wednesday, Jan. 29, against Francis Howell and Lafayette. They look to continue improving as they approach districts Feb. 14-15 at Parkway South.
