Two Tigers wrestle their way to Columbia

Two OHS wrestlers will be heading to the state meet this weekend (Feb. 20-22) at the University of Missouri in Columbia. One is going for the third straight year, while this will be the first trip to state for the other.

Austin Neal (10) and Dominic O’Neil (12) will both be heading to state. O’Neil is going back to state for the third straight year. He has a record of 38-5 in the 138 pound weight class. Neal will be making his first appearance at the state meet. He also had an impressive record on the season, finishing 33-6 in the 126 pound weight class.

“I’m happy with my performance so far. It was my goal to make it to state and now i just have to place,” said Neal. “I’ve got a tough bracket but i’ve got to look past that and try and beat the best.”

O’Neil made it to the final at the district meet, but was only able to finish second. Neal finished third at districts, both finishing in the top four which was good enough to qualify for the state meet.

“It is a good accomplishment to make it to state,” O’Neil said, “I’ve got some tough matches but i feel pretty good about this weekend.”
