Girls golf tees off season with win over Northwest
After weeks of practice, the Oakville girls golf team finally got to kick off an exciting fall season this Thursday.
Because their last match was rained out halfway through and they were unable to continue, the team was excited to get another chance at a first impression at Quail Creek Golf Course on Thursday, Sept. 4.
A full month of practice and anticipation before their first match paid off; the girls beat Northwest with a score of 197, 11 strokes better than Northwest’s 208. Varsity athletes Tara Vogler (11) and Alexa Shelton (12) finished second and third, respectively.
“It was a good start to our season to get the win,” Vogler said optimistically.
Girls golf plays next Monday, Sept. 8 in an 18-hole tournament at the Links of Dardenne.
