Head coaches not returning
The 2019 fall season for OHS boys soccer and girls volleyball is bound to look a bit different. Head soccer coach Jordan Klipsch and head volleyball coach Kristina Kanallakan will not be returning to their coaching positions.
Klipsch is a former OHS soccer player who decided to return to the field he once played on. However, this time, he would be coaching instead. In his two seasons with the varsity boys his teams were 11-11-2 and 12-14. His team’s greatest accomplishment was in the 2018 fall season when he coached the boys to a district championship.
“I enjoyed having Jordan as a coach,”said midfielder Michael Bayer (10), “but I’m excited to see what the next seasons bring.”
Kanallakan was the coach of varsity girls team for three years with records of 13-15-1 and 13-13-1 in her first two years. The 2018 fall season was the team’s best with a record of 22-7-3.
“Coach K is a very nice lady, but her coaching style wasn’t for me,”said outside hitter Emily Schellhase (11). “As far as her leaving, I was shocked because it came out of nowhere.”
Both Klipsch and Kanallakan were unavailable for comment.
According to athletic director, Becky Czuppon, interviews for the new head soccer and volleyball coach will begin in late February or early March.
