Girls soccer has been on a tear lately with a 10-game winning streak, bringing their season record to 12-2 going into a rivalry game against Eureka Tuesday night (May 4).

The team has scored at least three goals in seven of those 10 games. Mackenzie Deutschmann (12) has been the leader in scoring with 15 goals and 35 points. Avery Bangert (10) has been a big help offensively as well, and is second in goals with 12.

The competition for the top spot in scoring does not stop them from helping each other out. “I would not have as many goals as I do without Avery,” said Deutschmann. “She is so quiet, but on the first day I knew she was gonna be good.”

Tuesday’s game kicks off at 6 p.m., with Eureka entering the game with a 10-1 record.

“Usually I am nervous about Lindbergh, but this year it’s definitely Eureka,” said Deutschmann. “I have some family friends that play on the team and she has just been talking up a storm about how good they are.”

Deutschmann is pumped up for the big game.

“I’m really nervous because I want to beat them,” she said. “So I am using that as motivation.”
