Choir auditions for Peabody Opera House
For the first time ever, OHS concert choir (mixed) has a chance to perform at the Peabody Opera House in downtown Saint Louis as an opening act for performers Rachel Platten, Pentatonix, and Adam Lambert on Dec. 16. In order to win this opportunity, the students of OHS have to vote for their peers in an online contest.
Just a couple weeks ago, the OHS choir department sent in a video audition to “Now 96.3!” of their concert choir performing at the fall concert. Five schools were selected to take part in the contest and OHS was among them.
“It’d be pretty cool because we get to open for big performers unlike singing at a choir concert” singer Lindsey Meeks (10) said.
The choir department is advertising their opportunity through social media and spreading the word through friends. The school with the most votes placed online through the contest’s website will be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
“I’m super pumped because people will know what Oakville Choir is,” Meeks said.
The 48 students in concert choir are anticipating the voting to be closed on Dec. 9 at 5:00 pm and the results to come out soon after. As the excitement is rising and time is running out, they encourage everyone to vote the allowed amount of once an hour.
Update: After the polls closed on Dec. 9th at 5:00 pm, it was announced that OHS did not win the performance contest to open for Adam Lambert and the Pentatonix. It was Francis Howell who won the opportunity instead.
