Spirit week came to an end with the annual winter pep assembly.
To close out spirit week, the pep assembly was held to get students excited about winter sports. The assembly was held at the end of the day with representatives from each sport talking about their season and performances from the golden girls and cheerleaders.
“I think we performed really well…we were really excited to perform it for everyone,” Morgan Blumenthal (12), varsity golden girl, said.
This year the “Harlem Shake,” an internet trend of comic dance moves to the song of the same name by Baauer, kicked off the assembly, and seniors showed off their best dance moves. The other grades were encouraged to join in to show their spirit.
“I think it went great! The Harlem Shake was kinda rough at the beginning but it was a cool way to get anyone involved who wanted to be,” student body president Katie Bauman (12) said.
Later in the assembly games were played, including an obstacle course that each participating grade level had to complete and a “sleeping bag race” between students and teachers.
The assembly ended with the announcement of this year’s prom theme: New York, New York.
“I think the seniors really like the theme because it’s something we haven’t done in awhile and it will be pretty new to everyone,” Sophie Nelms (12), student body vice president, said.
