Despite losing several talented seniors and being one of the smallest speech and debate teams in the area, the OHS speech and debate team has proved its talent in recent events.

On Jan. 15, the team competed in the Greater St. Louis competition and placed third in overall points achieved. In fact, two team members, Rachel Scott (10) and Kelly Moynihan (12), took home 4th place trophies in the duo competition.

“OHS proved once again, that its small but mighty,” President Miles Larson says. “And we managed to take home several trophies.”

The speech and debate team will be quite busy in the next few weeks because on Feb. 5 OHS will be co-hosting a debate tournament. All of the members of the team will be in charge of working concession stand and helping out.

With the surprising success so far this season, Mr. Ed Taylor is very confident that there will be several team members sent to nationals in Dallas, Texas this year.
