The Senior Sharks defeated the Junior Squids 18-12 in the annual Powder-Puff game held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Rodger Estes Stadium.
In the first ten plays of the game, the seniors managed to get two touchdowns. The first touchdown was run in by NeKole Harvey (12); the next one was scored by Shelby Allison (12). However, the juniors ended the first half with one touchdown, scored by Abby Bergman (11).
“But when I scored that first touchdown, I was excited, because the juniors were getting too cocky so I had to let them know,” Harvey said.
To start the second half, Harvey scored the third touchdown for the seniors. But when the juniors got the possession, they soon started to advance on the senior’s defense. Tina Haberberger (11) scored the junior’s second touchdown, now putting the score at 18-12. With one play left, both sides were waiting to see what the outcome would be. Taylor Conran (12) made the last defensive play with a tackle, giving the victory to the seniors.
“The game was great. It was the best experience ever,” Conran said.
The proceeds from the game went to St. Patrick’s Center, to help the homeless.
