Oakville students feed their people

In November people think of pumpkin spice scented candles, turkey, and Black Friday shopping. On the other hand, November here at OHS means the Feed My People Food Drive.

Feed My People starts on Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 19. The goal is to collect as many cans as possible in order to fill the Feed My People pantry. The food donated to the pantry is locally distributed, that way families in Oakville are fed for the holidays.

OHS has always been the main supporter of Feed My People. “ They [Feed My People] rely on us immensely,” Steve King, chairperson of the guidance department and new sponsor of STUCO, said.

For the 2013 year STUCO, along with King and Mrs. Kelli Roberts, have decided to put some spirit into the Food Drive.

For every 10 cans donated from each class a balloon, representing their class color, will be put up in the commons.  The seniors are blue and white, the juniors are green and white, the sophomores are yellow and white, and the freshman are red and white.

At the end of the Food Drive the class that brings in the most cans will earn a spirit stick for their contributions. The ANP that brings in the most cans will receive t-shirts representing their class color.
