OHS Science teacher Daniel Wrangler gets his first Moderna vaccination shot at OHS’ vaccination event

On March 19, employees of the Mehlville School District gathered in OHS’ very own Gym B to get their first COVID-19 vaccination shot.

“Mehlville School District Head Nurse Jen Ahearn contacted Mehlville School District alum Dr Tyler Taylor, St. Louis Hills Pharmacist, for the opportunity to provide the vaccination clinic to staff of Mehlville School District,” said OHS nurse Colleen Stebe, who was one of many school district nurses administering the vaccine.
Nurses gathered back to Gym B on April 16 for the second round of vaccines.
“The vaccine clinic ran smoothly,” said Stebe, who added that nurses from around the district were able to give 650+ Moderna vaccinations, “with ease, no lines, no wait.”
Stebe also added the importance of providing safety to not only staff, but students too. “Safety and the health of our students and staff is our number one priority. It’s great to have the opportunity to provide some security for our staff in administering the vaccination so our students can be back in school safely.”
While teachers were getting vaccinated on March 19 and April 16, all MSD students were to report to class virtually. With most teachers fully vaccinated, students are now back in person five days a week, starting Monday, April 19.
